Twisted Teacher Workshop 2026

The Oklahoma Mesonet and the Cooperative Institute for Severe and High-Impact Weather Research and Operations (CIWRO) at the University of Oklahoma are jointly hosting a 1-day, in-person, professional development workshop for Oklahoma 3rd-6th grade public school teachers. The workshop will focus on the atmospheric ingredients that can spur tornadoes, plot weather data on maps and graphs, and hands-on activities.
Teachers will leave with a STEM weather kit, a $75 Amazon gift card (you will need to provide your social security number and address to receive) and a catered lunch.
All instruction is designed for teachers to take back and implement in the classroom. Lessons can be modified to fit a range of grade levels and are directly or tangentially aligned with the following Oklahoma Academic Standards:OAS Math 6.N.1; OAS SS 3.2; OAS SS 6.4.3; OAS SS 6.4.4; OAS Sci 3.ESS2.1; OAS Sci 3.ESS2.2; OAS Sci 4.ESS2.1; OAS Sci 4.ESS2.2; OAS Sci 5.ESS2.1; OAS Sci 6.ESS2.6; OAS Sci 6.ESS3.2.

Tobacco Use on Campus: The OU Board of Regents has established a campus Tobacco-Free policy consistent with state Executive Orders 2012-01 and 2013-43. All properties and facilities of the University of Oklahoma, regardless of campus or location, are free of tobacco, electronic cigarettes, and vaping devices.
Clear Bag Policy: In general, the NWC has a Clear Bag Policy for visitors. Groups participating in a sponsored workshop are allowed bags for carrying laptops. Please limit items you bring inside. Bags will need to remain inside the workshop room and not carried around the facility.
Parking: Using the second driveway on the right, off of David L. Boren Blvd., pull forward towards the building. Visitor Parking is on either side of the aisle. All other rows require an OU parking permit
